 Liam Francis Peadar Donnelly was born on Thursday, 7th March, 1996, in Dungannon, County Tyrone. The 5' 11 (11st 3lbs) defender joined Alan Archibald's Thistle for a trial period in June, 2016, having most recently been with Crawley Town. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Wednesday, 29th June, 2016, in a 6-0 friendly win away to Cirencester Town. There were no goals for Liam during his spell with Thistle. He played his second and last game for the club on Saturday, 2nd July, 2016, in a 4-0 friendly defeat away to Bath City. At August, 2025, Liam's club-list included Dungannon Swifts, Fulham, Crawley Town, Partick Thistle, Hartlepool United, Motherwell, Kilmarnock and St Mirren. |

 A defensive midfielder who is equally comfortable at centre back, Liam started out with his hometown club, Dungannon Swifts, before being snapped up by Fulham in 2012. The teenager captained Fulham to the 2014 FA Youth Cup final. At this time he was building up a good reputation for himself with the Northern Ireland U21 side, so much so that, in June 2014, he earned his first senior cap aged just 18, coming on as a late sub in a 0-2 friendly defeat away to Chile. Liam spent the start of 2015-16 on loan with Crawley Town but was recalled by Fulham early in October 2015. Liam's connection to Partick Thistle was brief, but came at a pivotal developmental time in his early career. In June 2016, the 20-year-old joined Alan Archibald’s Partick Thistle squad for a summer trial period. He made his debut on June 29, 2016, playing the full 90 minutes in a 6–0 win over Cirencester Town. He appeared once more, in the second half of a 0-4 defeat at Bath City a few days later. Though he did not sign a permanent contract with Thistle, it served as a precursor to his later success in the Scottish Premiership, where he found long-term homes at Motherwell (2018-2022), Kilmarnock (2022-2025) and St Mirren (2025-2027). Liam is highly celebrated as Northern Ireland’s all-time record cap holder at the Under-21 level. He amassed 24 caps for the U21 national side, breaking the long-standing record on September 11, 2018, when he captained and scored a penalty in a famous 2–1 victory away against Spain. After an electric goal-scoring run for Motherwell at the start of the 2019-20 season, he was recalled to the senior Northern Ireland squad by Michael O'Neill. He earned his second cap on September 5, 2019, coming on as a substitute in a friendly win against Luxembourg — a full five years after his debut. Further caps were added in September 2021 (a 1-0 friendly win in Estonia) and June 2022 (a 0-0 Nations League draw in Cyprus).
