You Couldn't Make It Up!

by Jack Little

The "Edinburgh Evening News" was not always charitable towards Glasgow clubs - at least not all of them at the same time. On 6/12/1920 they reported that "Partick Thistle have been winning their matches for some Saturdays and have climbed up to third place in the Scottish League but they are as bad a third to Celtic as Celtic are a bad second to Rangers. The latter keep moving majestically on". Rangers were sitting unbeaten on 39 points, Celtic on 32 and Thistle on 27.
