William Reid [ii]
William Reid [ii]
A. Player

probably born in Scotland

William Reid was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. *

The forward signed for George Easton's Thistle on Wednesday, 14th March, 1917, having most recently been with Blantyre Victoria.

He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 17th March, 1917, in a 1-1 draw at home to Motherwell in the Scottish Football League.

Amazingly, William scored his first 3 goals for Thistle in the same match! His account-opening hat-trick was registered on Saturday, 31st March, 1917, in a 4-0 win at home to Aberdeen in the Scottish Football League.

He scored the last of his 7 goals on Saturday, 18th May, 1918, in a 4-0 neutral-venue win against Clyde in the Glasgow Charity Cup.

That turned out to be his last game for the club, having appeared as a Jag on 20 occasions.

His club-list included Blantyre Victoria, Partick Thistle, St Mirren and Motherwell.

We don't know where or when William died. *
