He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 16th August, 1919, in a 1-1 draw at home to Morton in the Scottish Football League. William scored his first goal for Thistle on Tuesday, 26th August, 1919, in a 3-0 win at home to Raith Rovers in the Scottish Football League. He scored the last of his 3 goals on Monday, 29th September, 1919, in a 3-2 defeat away to Clyde in the Scottish Football League. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th January, 1920, in a 3-1 win at home to Motherwell in the Scottish Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 21 occasions. His club-list included St Anthony's, Celtic, Hamilton Academical, Dumbarton, Partick Thistle and Alloa Athletic. We don't know where or when William died. *
