William Davidson McCrindle was born sometime between 15th March, 1915 and 14th March, 1916, in Hurlford, East Ayrshire.

The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Tuesday, 3rd November, 1936, having most recently been with Clydebank Juniors.

Aged 21 or 22, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 6th February, 1937, in a 6-1 win at home to Albion Rovers in the SFL First Division.

William scored his first two goals for Thistle on Saturday, 27th August, 1938, in a 3-1 win at home to Heart of Midlothian in the SFL First Division.

He scored the last of his 14 goals on Wednesday, 24th April, 1940, in a 5-2 win at home to Kilmarnock in the Regional League, Western Division.

That turned out to be his last game for the club, having appeared as a Jag on 35 occasions.

His club-list included Clydebank Juniors and Partick Thistle.

William died on Friday, 14th March, 1941, at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, aged 25.
