William Buchanan Goudie was born on Wednesday, 19th March, 1879, in Glasgow. The midfielder signed for Thistle on Tuesday, 1st August, 1899, having most recently been with Rangers. Aged 20, he made his first known appearance on Tuesday, 15th August, 1899, in a 4-3 friendly defeat at home to Clyde. William scored his first known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 2nd September, 1899, in a 3-1 win at home to Port Glasgow Athletic in the SFL Second Division. He scored his second (and final known) goal for us on Wednesday, 9th May, 1900, in a 2-1 win at home to Morton in the Western League. He played his last known game for the club on Tuesday, 14th May, 1901, in a 2-0 friendly defeat at home to Rangers, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 66 occasions. His club-list included Third Lanark, Rangers, Partick Thistle and Falkirk. William died on Saturday, 28th September, 1929, in Glasgow, aged 50. |
