Bio Extra

Little is known of this player, but he's known to have made a few appearances in 1884 and 1885, remaining unbeaten as he did so. The highlight of these would be game at Muir Park on the Thursday evening of 5th June 1884. It was the return leg (so-to-speak) of the end-of-season battle with local rivals Partick, before a very large and enthusiastic crowd. It was stated that Thistle took the opportunity to give a run-out to three second XI men in Bennie, Ward & Paul, so that gives some indication as to his status at the club. Having won the game at Inchview (home to Partick) 5-0 the previous month, the home leg was equally emphatic; 5-1 to Thistle for a 10-1 aggregate. Ward got on the scoresheet and would undoubtedly have endeared himself to the faithful in doing so!
