Tony Weston
● Tony Weston, 2020 (DR)

born in England

Anthony Weston was born on Wednesday, 17th September, 2003, in Liverpool.

The 5' 7 (10st 10lbs) forward temporarily transferred to Ian McCall's Thistle on Wednesday, 13th July, 2022, from his parent club, Rangers.

Aged 18, he made his debut appearance on Wednesday, 13th July, 2022, in a 1-1 draw away to Kilmarnock in the League Cup, with Thistle collecting a bonus point, 5-4 on pens.

Tony scored his only goal for Thistle on Saturday, 26th November, 2022, in a 3-0 win at home to Kelty Hearts in the Scottish Cup.

He played his last game for the club on Monday, 2nd January, 2023, in a 2-0 defeat away to Queen's Park in the SPFL Championship, having appeared as a Jag on 19 occasions.

At September, 2024, Tony's club-list included Blackpool, Rangers, Partick Thistle, Cove Rangers, Derby County and Boston United.

Bio Extra

What he lacks in height, he makes up for with pace and agility, and he knows his way to the net. After scoring 14 goals in the Blackpool youth team in the first part of the 2019–20 season, first-team manager Simon Grayson invited Tony to travel with the squad to Ipswich Town on the 23rd November 2019, taking him out of school for the journey! The recently-turned 16-year-old was then named on the bench in the Seasiders' following match, a home tie against Scunthorpe United in the EFL Trophy on the 27th November. He made his professional debut on 1st December 2019, coming on in the final minute of normal time of Blackpool's 3–1 victory over Maidstone United in the second round of the FA Cup, and immediately the fans took to him, applauding him off the park. All at Blackpool, fans and officials, were unhappy to lose him.

Weston hails from the same Huyton area of Liverpool as Steven Gerrard and, in the summer of 2020, the youngster was snapped up by Gerrard's Rangers for an undisclosed fee (reported to be £250,000), signing a 3 year deal with the Ibrox club. He played with Rangers B in the Lowland League, and a brace against Queen's Park in the Glasgow Cup in March 2022 took his goals tally to 35 in all competitions for that season. Naturally, this red-hot form didn't go un-noticed and he made his debut for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's Rangers by replacing Steven Davis as a 71st-minute substitute during a 3–1 League win over Hearts at Tynecastle in May, 2022. Several weeks later, Thistle boss Ian McCall arranged a season-long loan deal for the 18-year-old, noting that “he offers something completely different to Brian Graham and Anton Dowds”. Weston's only 90 minutes came in a friendly game against Motherwell. In competitive action, he started just once and came on as a sub on 17 occasions. In all competitions he only scored once in his 18 matches, but his combined game time totalled just 269 minutes, so it'd be fair to say he never got a great run at it, and his loan deal was cut short in January 2023, whereafter he was loaned out to Cove Rangers.
