Tom Paterson |
![]() Thomas Paterson was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The forward signed for Thistle in August, 1895, having most recently been with Thornliebank. He made his only known appearance on Saturday, 17th August, 1895, in a 3-2 defeat away to Port Glasgow Athletic in the SFL Second Division. That day, Tom became a member of our scoring debutant's club, and even added a second for good measure. His club-list included Thornliebank and Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when Tom died. *

![]() The committee signed a number of new players from the juniors in the close season of 1895, one of them being Tom Paterson, a centre forward who had been catching the eye with Thornliebank. In August 1895, Tom made his sole first team appearance in the opening league game of the season, but the 3-2 loss at Port Glasgow seems to have gone against him, despite the fact that he scored twice on his debut! It's unclear what happened to Tom in his footballing career but he's definitely not to be confused with the Tom Paterson (b. Quarter, 1874) who played with Quarter Huttonbank, Royal Albert, Motherwell, Burnley and Abercorn. |
