Stephen Ross was born on Wednesday, 27th January, 1965, in Glasgow. The 5' 9 (10st 10lbs) goalkeeper signed for Tommy Bryce's Thistle on Monday, 27th July, 1998 (after a short trial period), having most recently been with Albion Rovers. Aged 33, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 18th July, 1998, in a 3-2 friendly win away to Stranraer. Stevie kept his first clean-sheet on Saturday, 26th September, 1998, in a 2-0 win at home to Arbroath in the SFL Second Division. He kept his second and last clean-sheet on Sunday, 11th October, 1998, in a 2-0 win at home to Forfar Athletic in the SFL Second Division. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 21st November, 1998, in a 1-0 defeat away to Arbroath in the SFL Second Division, having appeared as a Jag on 13 occasions. Stevie's club-list included Eastercraigs, Queen's Park, Clyde, Stranraer, Albion Rovers, Partick Thistle and Clydebank. |
Was brought to Firhill by Tommy Bryce as understudy to Kenny Arthur. An injury to Kenny gave Stevie the opportunity to make his Thistle debut against East Fife and he kept his place in the team for the next 9 games before Kenny regained his spot in the first team. Remained at the club until the end of the season before receiving a free transfer. |
