Stephen McAnespie was born on Tuesday, 1st February, 1972, in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire.

The 5' 9 (10st 7lbs) defender signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Friday, 8th March, 2002, having most recently been with Cambridge United.

Aged 30, he made his debut appearance on Sunday, 24th March, 2002, in a 3-0 neutral-venue defeat against Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

There were no goals for Stephen during his spell with Thistle.

He played his second and last game for the club on Saturday, 6th April, 2002, in a 1-1 draw away to Airdrieonians in the SFL First Division.

Stephen's club-list included Aberdeen, Västerhaninge, Raith Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Bradford City, Cambridge United, Partick Thistle and New Orleans Shellshockers.

Champions! McCulloch headed the opener from a Burns corner (22). After the break Cameron hit the bar then, set up by McLean, Fleming scored from close in, breaking his leg in the process (51). St Mirren never looked like spoiling the party and Thistle saw the game out to take the title.
