Bio Extra

This young centre forward signed on an "S-Form" in the summer of 1988, but he was released in March 1990, never having got a chance to put his goal-per-game ratio to the test! At 16y, 9m, 10d he's still stands second only to Ian McDonald in terms of being the youngest to score for Thistle on his debut. Officially, the first team proper were on a tour of Northern Ireland on Saturday, 6th August, 1988, but a strong side (Paul Graham; Alan Dinnie; Joe Mosson; Kenny Watson; Paul Maher; Bobby Law; Ian McDonald; Willie McGuire; Kenny Ashwood; Gerry McCoy; Steve Gallagher) remained in Glasgow to honour the late John Connelly in a fund raiser for his family. 1,500 turned out at Petershill Park for what was a meaty affair. A crude tackle on Bobby Law (1) set the tone. Alan Dinnie and Willie McGuire went close, but Petershill were stubborn in defence. Perthshire came on in the second half and, after the post denied them, Eddie Gallagher rounded the keeper for 1-0. Scott Campbell came on as a second half sub in the match for his only appearance in the "first team". Brilliantly, his low shot made it 2-0, leaving his positive mark in the history book.
