Controversy surrounded almost his whole career with Thistle most notably when he was booked for allegedly making the sign of the cross as he left the field of play at half time during a match with Rangers. On the receiving end of some terrible racist abuse, a further caution led to a red card. On a much happier note he marked his Thistle debut with a spectacular goal against Motherwell, and the transfer fee paid to Walsall looked to be money well spent. Although his talent was never in question his work rate often was and he spent a long period an the sidelines out of favour after Murdo MacLeod took over. He did return to the side, scoring a number of important goals including Thistle's counter in the Rangers match referred to above, but his relationship with the manager was clearly strained culminating in being dropped for the second leg of the relegation play-off with Dundee United. Left Thistle at the end of that season and ended up playing non-league football in England.
