Paul Alexander McGrillen was born on Thursday, 19th August, 1971, in Glasgow. The 5' 9 (11st 1lbs) forward signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Wednesday, 12th July, 2000, having most recently been with Stirling Albion. Aged 28, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 22nd July, 2000, in a 0-0 friendly draw away to Derry City. Paul scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 7th October, 2000, in a 2-1 win away to Queen of the South in the SFL Second Division. He scored the last of his 5 goals on Saturday, 5th May, 2001, in a 4-0 win at home to Stenhousemuir in the SFL Second Division. That turned out to be his last game for the club, having appeared as a Jag on 27 occasions. His club-list included Motherwell, Falkirk, Airdrieonians, East Fife, Stirling Albion, Partick Thistle, Clydebank, Bellshill Athletic, Stenhousemuir, Stranraer, Bathgate Thistle and Wishaw. Paul died on Wednesday, 29th July, 2009, in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, aged 37. |
