Paul Thomas Donnelly was born on Monday, 14th July, 1958, in Edinburgh.

The 5' 7 (10st 4lbs) midfielder signed for Benny Rooney's Thistle in August, 1984, having most recently been with Dunfermline Athletic.

Aged 26, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 18th August, 1984, in a 1-1 draw at home to Clyde in the SFL First Division.

Paul scored his only goal for Thistle on Saturday, 19th January, 1985, in a 4-0 win away to Brechin City in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 8th March, 1986, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Dumbarton in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 48 occasions.

Paul's club-list included Dalkeith Thistle, Dunfermline Athletic, Partick Thistle, Perth Azzurri, Melbourne Croatia, Morwell Falcons and Western Knights.

Bio Extra

Started at Dalkeith Thistle, then Dunfermline before joining Thistle for a £7,000 fee in 1984. Initially unpopular he eventually won over the fans with a series of hard-working and brave performances in midfield and at left back. He scored one goal for Thistle, against Brechin. He left the club to move to Australia in 1986.
