 Patrick Kelly was born on Sunday, 4th February, 1968, in Paisley, Renfrewshire. The 5' 7 (10st 0lbs) midfielder signed for Benny Rooney's Thistle circa Saturday, 27th October, 1984, having most recently been with Nottingham Forest. Aged 16, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 10th November, 1984, in a 2-0 win at home to Meadowbank Thistle in the SFL First Division. Pat scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 2nd March, 1985, in a 6-2 win at home to St Johnstone in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 26 goals on Saturday, 24th December, 1988, in a 1-0 win away to Falkirk in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Sunday, 6th August, 1989, in a 3-1 friendly win away to Lossiemouth, having clocked up 152 appearances as a Jag. Pat's club-list included Nottingham Forest, Partick Thistle, Clydebank, Stranraer and Queen of the South. |
 Joined the club from the groundstaff of Nottingham Forest. In and out of the team through inconsistent performances, Kelly was a player who on his day could tear defences apart with his dribbling skills. Often appeared as substitute, manager Lambie regarding him as a "30 minuteman". Left the club under a cloud in 1989 when he emigrated to South Africa, giving no notice of his departure, and returned a few months later. Later joined Clydebank. |
