Bio Extra

Paddy, a left back specialist, climbed the ranks at Middlesbrough, having joined their academy at the age of 11. His ability was recognised when he was called up to the Scotland U-21s in March 2019, presumably on the grounds of family heritage. A few months later, he got his first team debut for 'Boro and appeared in a few of their pre-season friendlies of 2019, by which stage his training sessions were alternating between the U-23s and the first team. Further international caps were gained, but Paddy was frustrated at not getting his chance in the 'Boro first team, and was shaping up for a loan move in November 2019. The National League and the Scottish leagues were both mentioned but, in a surprise move, Stevenage swooped in the January 2020 transfer window, signing him up on a permanent short-term deal. He had his work cut out from the get go, with Stevenage bidding for League Two survival. The challenge was for him to make the left back spot his own but, alas, it didn’t quite happen, although Stevenage were spared relegation as a result of Bury's expulsion from League One. New Stevenage manager Alex Revell was in clear-out mode in the close season of 2020, and Paddy took the opportunity to look northwards once again.

In July 2020 he signed a two-year deal with Mark Kerr's Ayr United, where he was seen as a direct replacement for the outgoing Danny Harvie, who was bound for MK Dons. It was whilst an 'Honest Man' that Paddy won his 6th and final cap for the Scotland U-21s, appearing in a 2-2 Euro Qualifiers draw with Croatia at Tynecastle in November 2020. Paddy scored his first goal for Ayr United in January 2021, albeit it came in a 3–2 defeat away to Queen of the South. In May 2022, Paddy signed a two year extension to his deal with Ayr United, having been impressed by the vision of new gaffer Lee Bullen to lift the club. An impressive 2nd place finish was achieved in 2022-23 as well as a 3rd place finish in 2024-25. Although contracted at Somerset Park until May 2026, Mark Wilson persuaded Paddy to sign a two-year deal with Partick Thistle in the summer of 2025, ending a 5 year association in South Ayrshire.
