Caldwell sacked 18 Sept. A bright start but once they fell behind to a shot from 6 yards (ex-JAG Nisbet, 23) Thistle were never in it. The bar saved them (29) then lost possession on half-way led to an angled drive (31). A deflected 20-yarder (49) tied it up. No goal threat, no drive forward, shocking defending. Relegation form.

Managerless Partick Thistle have slipped to bottom spot in the Scottish Championship after being thumped by Dunfermline Athletic. A deflected Kevin Nisbet shot trundled home after 23 minutes before Ryan Dow's fine solo effort made it 2-0. And Dunfermline struck again within five minutes of the restart, Kyle Turner's long-range pile-driver taking a deflection en route past Scott Fox. The win - their first this term - moves the visitors from last to seventh.

No Thistle fan could have had any complaints about the scoreline. Indeed, things could easily have been worse as their team wilted in the sunshine, Nisbet smacking the bar with a vicious volley a few minutes after his opener. After four straight defeats in league and League Cup, Dunfermline claim a much-needed and thoroughly deserved maiden victory and an escape from the foot of the table.

It's nowhere near good enough. Everything was set up today for us to go and perform - great crowd, great conditions. And after a promising start, we make two individual mistakes, deservedly fall behind and then don't do enough to get back in the game. Nobody's happy. The staff aren't happy, the fans aren't happy and hopefully the players are as disappointed as everybody else because that's nowhere near acceptable.

It's a nice feeling to get our first league win of the season. The boys have been excellent in their application. It's been a tough, tough few weeks waiting for this victory but it's one that we thoroughly deserved. It speaks volumes for the players.
