Thistle took the lead when McConalogue latched on to a through ball (16) but a wicked deflection (17) made it 1-1 then both teams had chances before half-time. Gillies hit the bar (66) and a draw looked likely until Stewart blundered with his headed clearance for an easy winner (78). Should have been at least a point.

Derek Lilly scored a fortunate winner to give Morton victory at Cappielow. Thistle drew first blood after 16 minutes, when Stephen McConalogue ran onto a Darren Brady through-ball before firing home. Morton equalised within a minute when Andy McLaren's shot was deflected past Colin Stewart. The winner came 11 minutes from time when Partick 'keeper Stewart diverted the ball into path of Lilly, who steered it home.
