Unchanged Thistle went behind when Arthur was beaten at his near post with a 25-yard free-kick (38) then a deflected free-kick made it 2-0 (51). Britton and Mitchell went close but the ball was forced in after a parried save by Arthur for 3-0 (67) before Britton flicked in a free-kick (70). A 4th goal (75) made it worse.

DUNDEE DUMP THISTLE. Dundee ran out convincing winners over Partick at Dens Park with Steve Lovell's second-half double securing all three points. Gerry Brady started the scoring with a first-half strike and Juan Sara doubled the lead after 51 minutes. A Gerry Britton consolation goal for Thistle came sandwiched between Lovell's goals.

No real chances were carved out by either team in the opening quarter but Nacho Novo created a genuine moment of brilliance after 21 minutes. With his back to goal on the edge of the box, he somehow managed to turn his marker and unleash a powerful drive towards goal. Arthur was well beaten by the shot but saw it bounce back off the angle of the crossbar before spinning to safety. Novo was spurred into action by this and should have scored a minute later. He gathered a Fabian Caballero through ball 20 yards from goal, broke into the box and only had Arthur to beat. However, the former Raith man was unable to direct the shot to either corner of the goal and allowed the Partick goalkeeper to beat the ball away for a corner. Novo was proving a real handful for Partick and he had another chance to open the scoring in the 32nd minute. He beat Alan Archibald out on the right touchline and drove into the box at pace but could only shoot high over the bar once again. However, Dundee did open the scoring in the 38th minute. Derek Whyte upended Barry Smith as the midfielder was breaking into the Partick half after latching onto a wonderful back-heel from Novo. At the resultant free-kick, Brady feigned to cross the ball from 30 yards and instead lashed it into the bottom left corner of Arthur's net.

Sara doubled Dundee's lead five minutes into the second half and Lovell made it three after 65 minutes. He latched onto Jonay Hernadez' cross to head low past Arthur. Britton gave the visitors a glimmer of hope five minutes later when he converted from Jamie Buchan's pass. But Dundee wrapped up the points after 74 minutes when Lovell grabbed his second goal of the game.
