DUNN ON TARGET AS THE THISTLE REVIVAL CONTINUES. The revival of Partick Thistle, under the management of John Lambie, continued yesterday with a brace of goals from Robert Dunn securing another three points. “That's five games unbeaten,” said Lambie. “I am delighted at the football we played, particularly in the first half when we kept the ball on the deck. I'm pleased for our fans, who must have enjoyed it. I thought we played as well in that first half as we have done all season.”

Stranraer had the chance to move into second place in the league, but Andy Roddie put them at a disadvantage after only 33 minutes when he was needlessly sent off. Roddie became involved in a scuffle on the touchline with Albert Craig, but it was his comments to referee Ian Frickleton after the incident that forced the red card. However, by then, Partick were already in the lead after Dunn got the break of the ball inside the penalty area in 16 minutes and cleverly drove home the opener. Partick could easily have been two ahead six minutes later when Quentin Jacobs struck the bar with a left-foot shot.

Dunn clinched the victory four minutes from the interval with an opportunist goal. A Derek Ferguson drive could only be parried by Stranraer goalkeeper Mark McGeown and the striker was on hand to knock in the rebound. Stranraer's attempts to claw back the deficit were lacklustre, and in the second half it was the Maryhill side who looked most likely to score. Eric Paton nearly put his name on the scoresheet with a header, but the bar denied Thistle again and Jacobs also came close with two fine efforts.
