Craig hit the bar then Dunn scored (27) having been set up after Docherty's fine run to finally give the fans a goal but cheers became boos when league leaders Arbroath scored within a minute then ex-Manager Bryce came back to haunt the club with a magnificent lob just after half-time. BRYCE WONDER-GOAL IS SWEET REVENGE. GOALDEN OLDIE Tommy Bryce grabbed a second-half wonder strike to pile on the agony for his old club. The 39-year old midfielder struck just 14 seconds after the interval to rock John Lambie's men. It was Lambie's return to Firhill which signalled the end of Bryce's short reign as Thistle player-boss - but he certainly had the last laugh on Saturday. Bryce pounced on a sloppy pass from Kenny Brannigan to lob Thistle keeper Kevin Budinauckas from 30 yards. Bryce admitted it was the old legs which were a deciding factor. He said: “I noticed Kevin was off his line and I thought it's either me running 30 yards or hitting it - so I hit it.”

Arbroath sealed it in 75 minutes with a killer third goal when sub Scott Peters swept the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards following good work from Bryce and Paul Brownlie who was carried off after being clattered by the Thistle keeper. Thistle must be shaking their heads in disbelief after dominating the first half. Yet all they had to show for their pressure was Robert Dunn's first goal of the season on the half hour. And that advantage was dispelled inside a minute by Brownlie, who slotted home Arbroath's equaliser. Minutes later Thistle's luck was out again when they were denied what looked to be a stonewall penalty. Scott Millar was just inside the box when he was brought down by John Crawford but ref Ian Fickleton indicated a free kick outside the area. When sub Eric Paton shot wide of the post from two feet out after locking on to an Isaac English cross with 10 minutes left, it was obvious it wasn't going to be Thistle's day.

Lambie knows his team need a win - and quickly. He said: “Confidence is a great thing and you get that by winning games. We just need that victory to give us a confidence booster. Today is like a death in the family but we have got to get on with it. I need someone up front with strength and power to change it for us. Arbroath boss David Baikie was delighted. He said: “If we'd said a year ago we'd come to places like this and win, people would have laughed at us. But we are making advances.//”
