TWO goals from new signing Andy Lyons helped Partick to their best Premier League away win. More importantly, it gave them a six point lead over bottom club Falkirk in their battle to avoid relegation. It was a great performance from the Firhill side, whose front men McWilliams, Cameron and Lyons gave Hearts a torrid time. Only Kilmarnock's victory over Raith took the icing off the cake as it blocked Partick from moving further up the League table.

Partick started strongly and McWilliams blazed a glorious chance over the bar before Rousset saved a low 25-yarder from Lyons. Miller squandered a gilt-edged opportunity for Hearts, heading over the bar from Fulton's corner. Thistle made them pay dearly. Pherson got in a tangle from Walker's goal kick and Lyons ran through to clip a low shot under the advancing Rousset. But Partick conceded a soft equaliser. Fulton's cross was flicked on by McPherson, and with Watson ball-watching, Johnston raced in behind to shoot high into the net. Thistle went ahead again when Dinnie's free kick was chested down by Slaven and Turner's low shot flew in. Then three goals in nine minutes after the break put Thistle on easy street. A Smith cross allowed McDonald to nip in front of Hearts defence and head home. Bruno's mistake gave McWilliams space to set up Lyons for his second with a clinical 12-yard finish. But Partick saved the best for last, with Cameron lashing a spectacular angled drive into the roof of the net. Hearts scrambled a late consolation strike through Eskilsson.
