Thistle were pathetic. At times McDonald and the yammering greyhound, Wayne Foster, were so divorced from the rest of their colleagues up front that you thought they must have had something contagious. Heaven knows they looked helpless. At the back, as the relentless onrush of football came at them, Thistle at least had the hod-carrying brawn of Steve Pittman to rely on. This fellow has made a few meaty assaults in his time and yesterday it was Jamie Dolan's turn to hear the footsteps coming up behind him. The root of this mindless incident in a numbingly dull first 45 minutes remained cloudy, but Pittman, as only Pittman can, clobbered him good and hard.
