The early winner came from a woefully short pass-back by McLaughlin on his debut (5). It was a poor game with few chances. Once they scored, Kilmarnock rarely threatened but Thistle could make nothing of their chances. A brilliant double save denied Gallacher and English's overhead kick resulted in a spectacular save.
