TTA report

There was a lively start but the game deteriorated into another slog full of fouls. McNab dropped a corner but the goal was disallowed. Whittaker went close just after half-time . Kilmarnock were the better team but just as a 4th replay looked likely Johnston stabbed in a cut-back in the 86th/416th min!

• Mo Johnston slides in to beat Killie centre-back Paul Clarke and send the ball past 'keeper Ally Wilson for the goal that brought an end to 7 hours of cup deadlock! (DR)

● FINALLY! Thistle's toughest nut cracked took 420 minutes - this titanic 7 hour Scottish Cup 3rd Round struggle took four games and 2 bouts of extra time to settle. It was an epic battle for sure - but not the longest the Cup has seen. The longest tie in the Scottish Cup was a first round meeting between Beith and Broxburn in 1909 which went to four replays, two of which went to extra time and a total of 510 minutes before Beith won. The second, third and fourth replays were played on February 3rd, 4th & 5th. Beith's second round tie against St Mirren was on the 6th. Needless to say, they lost but gained a second record in the same week by becoming the only team in British football to have played competitively in four successive days.
