The OH credits Thistle's opener as an o.g. (by process of elimination) but the ET/GH reports seem specific that Tommy Ewing's shot was going in (“Strachan just failed to keep Ewing's shot out”) and the benefit of the doubt should always lie with the shooter in these old reports. On chances this should have been a big win. Hainey hit the post (3) then Ewing scored with a Cowan pass (6) but he was particularly wasteful. Cunningham was injured and limped on the wing for most of the match but Hainey made it 2-0 (running 20 yards and firing home, 46). Morton scored (53) and pressed but Thistle hung on.
