Ayr's stubborn defence was finally broken by Ewing (20) then McParland outwitted full-back and keeper (26) but a poor pass-back let Ayr in (28). Ewing scored twice (38 and a glorious volley 59). Ayr tired badly and 2 goals by Cowan (67 and 70) and another from McParland (72) finished them off.
