A spirited performance. Thistle attacked from the start but the forwards failed to combine and Rangers led 1-0 at half-time. Niven saved a 30-yard shot from Thomson before they scored again (49). A 25-yard free-kick from Davidson (75) signalled a Thistle rally but their skilful individual forwards didn't gel.
