Howden in goal and both full-backs were in fine form and kept St Mirren at bay. Campbell scored from the spot (hand ball) just on half-time for a slightly fortunate lead. The second half was just as keenly contested and St Mirren deservedly scored (80). Some of Howden's saves were “miraculous“ (SC). Melville was lost to injury around the 70 min mark.
