This narrow victory over First Division St Bernard's was a bit of a surprise. Freebairn's early pen was saved but Fairbairn (Freebairn?) scored to give Thistle a 1-0 lead at half-time. The visitors were pinned back for much of the second half and Blackwood scored before a pen reduced the lead. It was hard, fast and closely fought.
