TTA report

1,000 paid £22.18s.3d and saw Thistle squander numerous chances and Kirkland miss a pen but McDiarmid gave them a half-time lead. It was soon 2-0 (Gray) before they missed another penalty then Paul found his shooting boots with a hat-trick. It took a long time to see Ayrshire League Irvine off.

At Meadowside. The opening stages were fairly even. Thistle latterly pressed and McDermid scored an offside goal. McClamey saved a penalty, stopping all sorts of Thistle shots. Eventually McDermid opened the scoring. Half-time:– Thistle, 1 goal; Irvine, nil. Shortly after the resumption Gray scored for Partick, then McClamey saved brilliantly a second penalty. Paul added a third goal. McClamey, being injured, retired and Paul scored twice. Result:– Partick Thistle, 5 goals; Irvine, nil.
