Played at Inchview Park, Whiteinch, before rather a meagre attendance. Losing the toss, the Thistle started the game. They at once made for Brady but Buist intervened and sent the ball well up the field. After a smart and dodgy run, Fraser scored the first goal for the Northern. Even play followed, each goal being visited in turn. Ultimately, by a pass from L. Proudfoot, Gilchrist equalised with a good shot. Encouraged by this success, the Thistle kept up the pressure and in a short time Paul put on their second goal with a shot from about midfield. The Northern tried their utmost to improve their position, but they could not find an opening. The Thistle again took up the play, and Gilchrist headed their third goal. The whistle sounded shortly thereafter. Half-time result:- Partick Thistle, 3 goals; Northern, 1 goal. On re-starting, the Thistle once again assumed the offensive. They soon added a fourth goal to their total. Friel easily put on a fifth goal a few minutes later from a pass by Miller. From a penalty kick, the Northern obtained a second goal. After a combined run, the same team put on a third goal. The Thistle once more took the game in hand and ere the close they added another 2 goals to their score. Final result:- Partick Thistle, 7 goals; Northern, 3 goals.
