teamline notes
  • Teamlines as yet unsourced.
  • The OH has a full line-up as follows: John McCorkindale; John Herd; William Proudfoot; Jacky Smith; John Cameron; Willie Paul; H. Brown; Billy Fleming; Watty Keay; Sam Clark; John Gilchrist. The problem is, the GH states: "the Thistle were assisted by Pollock, Rogers and Barker of the Linthouse." Furthermore, Willie Paul was widely reported as guesting (and scoring!) for Queen's Park in their annual challenge match with the Corinthians. We therefore must dismiss the OH line-up as it stands. We take a leap-of-faith guess that John McCorkindale was, indeed, in goals, and that H. Brown did, indeed make his one and only appearance, reasoning he couldn't have been listed out-of-the-blue for no good reason. With no opposition for the full-backs, we feel that it's not unreasonable to stick with John Herd and William Proudfoot per OH. From there, we list all six of the outfield players mentioned within the body of the GH report, placing them as per their familiar positions with Linthouse. This leaves one of the OH half-back positions up-for-grabs - Jacky Smith or Cameron? We leave the no.6 blank in the meantime.
