• The Derry Journal (9/3/1888) named the eleven who were down to play: Coulter (Kilrea), Bracken (Magherafelt), Jack Sherrard (Limavady), Jim Allen (Limavady), George Forbes (Limavady), MacDonald (Kilrea), Joe Sherrard (Limavady), Arthur Gaussen (Magherafelt), Rainey (Kilrea), Jemmy Wilton (Derry), Nat Brown (Limavady). This line-up is yet to be confirmed in reality, and one paper reports that Derry had McLucas of Thistle and a guest from Morton in their ranks, so we've placed McLucas in his #10 role at the expense of Jemmy Wilton but, not knowing the name of the Morton player, we've ignored him for the time being. They did travel with a number of substitutes. Of the first named eleven, only George Forbes and Nat Brown played against Airdrie the following day (Saturday 17th). For the record, the Derry team against Airdrie was: Burns, Kirk, Stewart, Forbes, Barr, Douglas, Suter, McLellan, Brown, Shearer, Fleming. All of this is not ideal, and hopefully we can get it tidied up at some stage.
• Only 2 x 30 mins were played.
