Bio Extra

An attacking midfielder who started his career in the Partick Thistle youth system, where he was a standout, with his wing play being described as a "menace to Development League full backs". He netted a couple of spectacular goals during the 2015/16 campaign at that level. Was introduced to Alan Archibald's first team in the springtime of 2017 (the Top 6 season) and, like his teammate Ross Fleming, was handed a cruel debut on the last game of the season. He came on for Stevie Lawless with Thistle trailing Aberdeen by 6 goals to nil, just over 20 minutes to go. Don't blame Mark - Jags drew 0-0 with him on the park! Mark played with the Thistle U-20 side which competed in the Challenge Cup in 2017-18, scoring in a 6-1 win over Stirling University in August 2017.

The following month, it was announced that he would move to Clyde on a loan deal, initially until January, but later this was extended to the full season. This turned into a permanent deal and Mark registered an impressive tally (especially in the cut-short covid era) of almost 140 appearances over the course of his 4 seasons with the Bully Wee. After nine years in the bottom tier of Scottish football, at the end of the 2018–19 season, Danny Lennon led Clyde to promotion to Scottish League One, beating Annan Athletic 2–1 on aggregate to win the promotion play-off final. Mark was an integral part of the promotion-winning side.

The 24-year-old moved on to Alloa at the start of season 2021/22 looking to get back into the Championship but it soon became apparent that he was not going to get regular game time at Recreation Park, in stark contrast to his preceding 4 seasons at Clyde. On 30th October 2021, he moved to David Gormley's Broomhill on a loan deal which lasted until the end of the season. Gormley moved to take charge at Kilwinning Rangers for 2022-23 and recruited Lamont as one of his first signings, as the ambitious West Of Scotland Premier Division side sought to rise to the Lowland League.
