James Patrick Bone was born on Thursday, 22nd September, 1949, in Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire. He had one spell as caretaker manager at Firhill.

Our former hot-shot striker had been Dick Campbell's assistant but, after the sacking, Jimmy stayed on to guide the club to the end of the disappointing season 2006-07. Was assisted by former Motherwell boss, Terry Butcher, who had recently been sacked by Sydney, and was happy to keep himself involved in the coaching scene for the next couple of months.

It all seemed so un-necessary that Bone would somewhat sour his relationship with sections of the Thistle support by refusing to let popular 'keeper Kenny Arthur take a final bow in the (otherwise meaningless) last game of the season.

Jimmy was in charge of Thistle for 6 games in total, as well as managing at Arbroath (1985-1986), Airdrie (1989-1991), Power Dynamos (1991-1992), St Mirren (1992-1997), East Fife (1996-1997) and Stenhousemuir (2001-2002).
