Joshua Samuel Clarke was born on Wednesday, 28th July, 2004, in London. The 6' 2 (13st 2lbs) goalkeeper temporarily transferred to Mark Wilson's Thistle on Friday, 25th July, 2025, from his parent club, Celtic. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 9th August, 2025, in a 1-1 draw at home to Greenock Morton in the SPFL Championship. He kept his first clean-sheet on Saturday, 16th August, 2025, in a 2-0 win at home to Ayr United in the League Cup. His club-list includes Glenavon, Celtic, Airdrieonians, Ayr United and Partick Thistle. Josh is contracted at Firhill until May, 2026. |
![]() Clarke was born in London to a Swedish mother, and would visit his maternal grandparents in Skåne County as a child. He attended Shrewsbury House School until the age of 13, when he moved to the St John's School in Leatherhead. As well as playing football, Clarke was enrolled in the elite academy of professional rugby club Harlequins, and represented Surrey County in cricket. The 20-year-old goalkeeper spent time with the academies of Chelsea and Bournemouth during his youth career before joining Glenavon in Northern Ireland where he would go on to make his professional debut. His performances for the Lurgan Blues caught the attention of Celtic who brought him to Glasgow in 2022, placing him in their B Team where he would feature regularly in the Lowland League. A one-game emergency loan with Airdrieonians in August 2023 was followed by two temporary stints with Ayr United during which he would play 22 first team games and keep five clean sheets. In July 2025, Clarke committed to a season-long loan deal in the Scottish Championship with Partick Thistle. Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:
