John Jackson was born on Thursday, 29th November, 1906, in Ruchill, Glasgow.

The 5' 9 (10st 12lbs) goalkeeper signed for George Easton's Thistle on Tuesday, 1st June, 1926, having most recently been with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

Aged 19, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 28th August, 1926, in a 2-1 defeat away to Rangers in the SFL First Division.

Johnny kept his first clean-sheet on Saturday, 11th September, 1926, in a 2-0 win away to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

He registered the last of his 78 clean-sheets on Saturday, 8th April, 1933, in a 0-0 draw away to Cowdenbeath in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 6th May, 1933, in a 2-0 defeat away to Rangers in the Glasgow Charity Cup, having clocked up an impressive 337 appearances as a Jag.

His club-list included Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, Partick Thistle, Chelsea, Brentford, Portsmouth, Guildford City and Bath City.

Johnny died on Saturday, 12th June, 1965, at Nova Scotia, aged 58.
