John Polland was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The defender signed for Thistle on Tuesday, 3rd June, 1902, having most recently been with Craigbank Thistle. He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 16th August, 1902, in a 2-1 win at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division. There were no goals for John during his spell with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 27th December, 1902, in a 3-0 defeat away to Dundee in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 6 occasions. His club-list included Kilmarnock, Craigbank Thistle, Partick Thistle and Nithsdale Wanderers. We don't know where or when John died. *
