John Cunningham McFedries was born on Tuesday, 26th February, 1946, in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. The 5' 11 (11st 12lbs) goalkeeper signed for Willie Thornton's Thistle circa Saturday, 23rd April, 1966, having most recently been with Hurlford United. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Friday, 5th August, 1966, in a 5-2 defeat away to Airdrieonians in a Benefit match. There were no clean-sheets for John during his spell with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 11th March, 1967, in a 5-0 defeat away to Motherwell in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions. John's club-list included Hurlford United, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South and Darvel. |
