John Ross Gilligan was born on Saturday, 15th December, 1883, in Dundee. The defender signed for George Easton's Thistle on Saturday, 21st May, 1904, having most recently been with Dundee Wanderers. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 15th August, 1904, in a 2-1 friendly defeat at home to Port Glasgow Athletic. There were no goals for John during his spell with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 27th August, 1904, in a 2-2 draw away to St Mirren in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions. His club-list included Dundee Wanderers, Partick Thistle, Clyde and Forfar Athletic. John died on Monday, 10th June, 1946, in Dundee, aged 62. |
