John Bonomy was born on Monday, 11th March, 1918, in Dalziel, North Lanarkshire. The defender signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Thursday, 25th January, 1940, having most recently been with Motherwell. Aged 21, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 10th February, 1940, in a 1-1 draw at home to Hamilton Academical in the Regional League, Western Division. There were no goals for John during his spell with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 1st May, 1940, in a 2-0 win at home to Ayr United in the Regional League, Western Division, having appeared as a Jag on 7 occasions. His club-list included Carluke Rovers, Queen's Park, Motherwell, Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers. John died on Friday, 27th June, 1980, on the Isle of Arran, Buteshire, aged 62. |
