 James Gilmour was born on Sunday, 17th December, 1961, in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire. The 5' 6 (9st 4lbs) forward signed for Benny Rooney's Thistle circa Saturday, 23rd June, 1984, having most recently been with Queen's Park. Aged 22, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 28th July, 1984, in a 2-0 friendly defeat away to Queen's Park. There were no goals for Jimmy during his time with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 1st January, 1985, in a 1-0 defeat away to Clyde in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 21 occasions. Jimmy's club-list included Bargeddie Amateurs, Queen's Park, Partick Thistle, Falkirk, Kilmarnock, Stirling Albion, Queen of the South, Clyde, Dumbarton, Bo'ness United and Alloa Athletic. |
 Popular winger, signed from Queen's Park, who played in the poor team which Benny Rooney constructed. One of the few constructive, exciting players in the team at the time, it was a disappointment when he was soon transferred to Falkirk in return for Alan Mackin. From Falkirk he moved to Kilmarnock and Stirling before signing for Clyde in 1990. As many ex-Jags do, he has given various Thistle defences a hard time of it. |
