James Creaney was born on Monday, 26th October, 1964, in Glasgow.

The forward informally joined Derek Johnstone's Thistle circa September, 1986, having most recently been with Pollok.

Aged 22, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 29th November, 1986, in a 3-2 defeat away to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division.

Jim scored his only goal for Thistle on Monday, 1st December, 1986, in a 4-3 friendly defeat away to Preston North End.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 6th December, 1986, in a 2-0 defeat at home to Dumbarton in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions.

Jim's club-list included St Anthony's, Hillwood Strollers, Albion Rovers, Thorniewood United, Pollok, Partick Thistle, Stockport County, Queen of the South, Stranraer, Dumbarton, Cumnock Juniors, Ballieston Juniors, Kilwinning Rangers, Dalry Thistle, Arthurlie, Benburb, Linlithgow Rose, Neilston Juniors, Bellshill Athletic, Johnstone Burgh and Troon.
