• Jamie Taggart, 2023 (TWYA)

born in Scotland

Jamie Thomas Taggart was born on Saturday, 6th August, 2005, in Glasgow.

The 5' 8 (9st 6lbs) midfielder was introduced to Ian McCall's Thistle in June, 2022, having most recently played with Partick Thistle U-18.

Aged 16, he made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 21st June, 2022, in a 3-1 friendly win away to Alloa Athletic.

We look forward to seeing Jamie score his first goal for Thistle.

His club-list includes Partick Thistle, Gartcairn Juniors, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and St Cadoc's Youth Club, where he is currently on loan for the duration of season 2024-25.

Jamie is contracted at Firhill until May, 2025.

Bio Extra

Jamie's been involved with the Thistle Weir Youth Academy for several years, and was under-12s player of the year in 2016-17. He came on as a sub in the first two first-team friendlies of 2022-23, a 3-1 win at Alloa being followed by a 1-0 win at Kelty a few days later. From what we seen of him in those games, he's an attack-minded left-sided midfielder, and he showed up well, linking up with Gallagher Lennon. Was listed in a competitive match-day squad for the first time in late January 2023, when 7 teenagers were on the bench due to an injury crisis before the Hamilton game, the League match at Firhill being lost by one goal to nil. Signed a two-year modern apprenticeship deal with the club in July 2023.

On 11th August 2023, it was announced that Jamie, along with team-mate Sallu Turay, would be joining West of Scotland Premier League side Gartcairn on a season-long loan deal. Thistle manager Kris Doolan said: “I’ve always thought that it’s important for young players to be playing football and going out to Gartcairn will give Jamie and Sallu that opportunity. We’ve had them in with the first team over the summer and I’ve been impressed with a lot of what they’ve done but now it’s a slightly different challenge as they head to a competitive environment when there’s more pressure on them each week.” Made his debut for 'the Cairn' the very next day at Cumnock, putting in an excellent performance and getting on the score-sheet!

Hungry for more game time, a new loan arrangement to the end of 2023-24 was made with another West of Scotland Premier League side, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, who were in a relegation battle as Jamie joined in early February. He was back involved with Thistle in the pre-season of 2024-25 before signing another season-long deal, this time with 6th tier St Cadocs Youth Club of the West of Scotland Premier Division.
