Ian Guthrie Campbell was born on Monday, 13th September, 1920, in Old Kilpatrick, West Dunbartonshire.

The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Monday, 12th September, 1938, having most recently been with Rothesay Royal Victoria.

Aged 19, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 23rd September, 1939, in a 4-2 friendly defeat away to Celtic.

Ian scored his only goal for Thistle on Saturday, 18th May, 1940, in a 3-1 win at home to St Mirren in the Regional League, Western Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 21st December, 1940, in a 2-1 defeat away to Heart of Midlothian in the Southern League, having appeared as a Jag on 9 occasions.

His club-list included Rothesay Royal Victoria, Partick Thistle and Albion Rovers.

Ian died in January, 1971, in Chapel-en-le- Frith, Derbyshire, aged 50. *
