Gospel Ocholi |
Gospel Ocholi was born on Wednesday, 9th April, 2003, probably in Nigeria. * The forward was introduced to Ian McCall's Thistle in the Winter of 2020, having most recently been with Partick Thistle U-18. Aged 17, he made his debut appearance on Sunday, 14th March, 2021, in a 2-1 friendly defeat at home to Heart of Midlothian. Gospel scored his only goal for Thistle on Saturday, 3rd July, 2021, in a 2-1 friendly win away to East Kilbride. He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 20th July, 2021, in a 2-0 win at home to Dumbarton in the League Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 5 occasions. At June, 2023, Gospel's club-list included Partick Thistle, Benburb, Gretna 2008, Dalbeattie Star and Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Having settled locally as a pupil at the John Paul Academy in Summerston, Gospel joined the Thistle Weir set up in 2017. In March 2020 Gospel, alongside his Thistle Weir teammate Billy Owens, represented Scotland Schools Under 18s, scoring in a 1-1 draw against Northern Ireland in the Centenary Shield competition. In October that year, both were presented with their representative caps, items to cherish. At the age of 17, Gospel made the bench for the 0-0 draw at Falkirk on boxing day 2020, but Covid stopped play almost immediately thereafter. 10 weeks later he came on as a sub in a Firhill 'mid-season pre-season' friendly with Hearts. He made the bench several times in the run-in, and enjoyed the League One title celebrations come season's end. In May 2021, Gospel signed a two year deal as a modern apprentice. A couple of months later he scored his first goal for the Jags, the match-winner in a 2-1 pre-season friendly win at East Kilbride. In August 2021, he was loaned out to West of Scotland Football League side Benburb for more first team experience and scored on his debut in a brilliant 3-0 win at Glenafton. The arrangement lasted only until January 2022, however. The following month, Gospel temporarily transferred to Gretna 2008 of the Lowland League for the rest of the campaign. Another borders-country loan arrangement was made in July 2022, with Dalbeattie Star loaning his services until January 2023, Gala Fairydean Rovers doing likewise from then until the end of that season. Gospel hadn't featured in any first-team Thistle squad in almost two years, and it perhaps came as no surprise when his contract was not renewed in the summertime of 2023. |
