Gordon Dalziel was born on Friday, 16th March, 1962, in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. The 5' 10½ (10st 13lbs) forward signed for Benny Rooney's Thistle circa Saturday, 15th September, 1984, having most recently been with Manchester City. Aged 22, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 15th September, 1984, in a 1-0 defeat at home to Airdrieonians in the SFL First Division. Gordon scored his first two goals for Thistle on Saturday, 22nd September, 1984, in a 2-2 draw away to St Johnstone in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 7 goals on Tuesday, 9th April, 1985, in a 3-1 win away to Brechin City in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 3rd May, 1986, in a 1-1 draw at home to Brechin City in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 49 occasions. Gordon's club-list included Rangers, Manchester City, Partick Thistle, East Stirlingshire, Raith Rovers and Ayr United. |
Joined Thistle from Manchester City, having gained experience previously with Rangers. Began well at Firhill, and was popular for a time. However, he began to give an impression of not wanting to play for the club and also seemed unfit at the beginning of his second season. |
