| George McTurk |
George Sloss McTurk was born on Saturday, 24th March, 1883, in Auchinleck, East Ayrshire. The goalkeeper signed for George Easton's Thistle in May, 1911, having most recently been with Clyde. Aged 28, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 23rd September, 1911, in a 0-0 draw away to Third Lanark in the Glasgow Cup. In doing so, George joined the goalies' clean-sheet debutant's club. He registered the last of his 9 clean-sheets on Monday, 7th April, 1913, in a 2-0 win away to Raith Rovers in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 22nd April, 1913, in a 1-0 defeat away to Clyde in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 37 occasions. His club-list included Lugar Boswell, Clydebank Juniors, Heart of Midlothian, Clyde, Renton, Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Rangers and Clydebank FC. George died on Friday, 4th August, 1967, in Ayr, South Ayrshire, aged 84. |
